# Council Regulation (EC) No 708/2007 of 11 June 2007 concerning use of alien and locally absent species in aquaculture, Article 5: Decision making and advisory bodies

The appropriate authority shall designate the competent authority or authorities responsible for ensuring compliance with the requirements of this Regulation (the competent authority(ies)). Each competent authority may appoint an advisory committee to assist it, which shall include appropriate scientific expertise (the advisory committee). If the competent authority does not appoint an advisory committee then the competent authority or competent authorities shall assume the tasks assigned to the advisory committee in this Regulation.
