Regulation (EC) No 552/2004 shall be amended as follows:

the following Article is inserted:
‘Alternative verification of compliance
Article 6aA certificate issued in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 216/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 February 2008 on common rules in the field of civil aviation and establishing a European Aviation Safety Agencyf1, where it applies to constituents or systems, shall be considered, for the purposes of Articles 5 and 6 of this Regulation, as an EC declaration of conformity or suitability for use, or as an EC declaration of verification, if it includes a demonstration of compliance with the essential requirements of this Regulation and the relevant implementing rules for interoperability.’;
