# Regulation (EU) No 540/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 April 2014 on the sound level of motor vehicles and of replacement silencing systems, and amending Directive 2007/46/EC and repealing Directive 70/157/EEC (Text with EEA relevance), Division I.2

Notwithstanding points I.3(a) and (b), the provisions of section III shall apply to an AVAS installed:
(a)in any vehicle type-approved before 1 July 2019, where the manufacturer so chooses;
(b)in any new vehicle based on the type referred to in point (a);
(c)in any vehicle type-approved as from 1 July 2019 and before 1 September 2021;
(d)in any new vehicle based on the type referred to in point (c) registered before 1 September 2023.
