# Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation) (Text with EEA relevance), Article 84A: Research, archives and statistics


1. This Chapter makes provision about the processing of personal data—
(a) for the purposes of scientific research or historical research,
(b) for the purposes of archiving in the public interest, or
(c) for statistical purposes.
2. Those purposes are referred to in this Chapter as “RAS purposes”.
