"text": "Engine CO2-Family\n1.\nParameters defining the engine CO2-family\nThe engine CO2-family, as determined by the manufacturer, shall comply with the membership criteria defined in accordance with paragraph 5.2.3. of Annex 4 to UN/ECE Regulation 49 Rev.06. An engine CO2-family may consist of only one engine.\nIn addition to those membership criteria, the engine CO2-family, as determined by the manufacturer, shall comply with the membership criteria listed in paragraph 1.1 to 1.9 of this Appendix.\nIn addition to the parameters listed below, the manufacturer may introduce additional criteria allowing the definition of families of more restricted size. These parameters are not necessarily parameters that have an influence on the level of fuel consumption.\n1.1.\nCombustion relevant geometric data\n1.1.1.\nDisplacement per cylinder\n1.1.2.\nNumber of cylinders\n1.1.3.\nBore and stroke data\n1.1.4.\nCombustion chamber geometry and compression ratio\n1.1.5.\nValve diameters and port geometry\n1.1.6.\nFuel injectors (design and position)\n1.1.7.\nCylinder head design\n1.1.8.\nPiston and piston ring design\n1.2.\nAir management relevant components\n1.2.1.\nPressure charging equipment type (waste gate, VTG, 2-stage, other) and thermodynamic characteristics\n1.2.2.\nCharge air cooling concept\n1.2.3.\nValve timing concept (fixed, partly flexible, flexible)\n1.2.4.\nEGR concept (uncooled/cooled, high/low pressure, EGR-control)\n1.3.\nInjection system\n1.4.\nAuxiliary/equipment propulsion concept (mechanically, electrically, other)\n1.5.\nWaste heat recovery (yes/no; concept and system)\n1.6.\nAftertreatment system\n1.6.1.\nReagent dosing system characteristics (reagent and dosing concept)\n1.6.2.\nCatalyst and DPF (arrangement, material and coating)\n1.6.3.\nHC dosing system characteristics (design and dosing concept)\n1.7.\nFull load curve\n1.7.1.\nThe torque values at each engine speed of the full load curve of the CO2-parent engine determined in accordance with paragraph 4.3.1. shall be equal or higher than for all other engine within the same CO2-family at the same engine speed over the whole engine speed range recorded.\n1.7.2.\nThe torque values at each engine speed of the full load curve of the engine with the lowest power rating of all engines within the engine CO2-family determined in accordance with paragraph 4.3.1. shall be equal or lower than for all other engines within the same CO2-family at the same engine speed over the whole engine speed range recorded.\n1.7.3.\nTorque values within a tolerance band related to the reference described in points 1.7.1 and 1.7.2. are considered as equal. The tolerance band is defined as + 20 Nm or + 2 percent of the CO 2 parent engine torque at the particular engine speed, whichever is greater.\n1.8.\nCharacteristic engine test speeds\n1.8.1.\nThe engine idle speed, n idle , of the CO 2 -parent engine as declared by the manufacturer at the application for certification in the information document in accordance with point 3.2.1.6 of Appendix 2 to this Annex shall be equal or lower than for all other engines within the same CO 2 -family.\n1.8.2.\nThe engine speed n95h of all other engines than the CO2-parent engine within the same CO2-family, determined from the engine full load curve recorded in accordance with paragraph 4.3.1 by applying the definitions of characteristic engine speeds in accordance with paragraph 7.4.6. of Annex 4 to UN/ECE Regulation 49 Rev.06, shall not deviate from the engine speed n95h of the CO2-parent engine by more than ± 3 percent.\n1.8.3.\nThe engine speed n57 of all other engines than the CO2-parent engine within the same CO2-family, determined from the engine full load curve recorded in accordance with paragraph 4.3.1 by applying the definitions in accordance with paragraph 4.3.5.2.1, shall not deviate from the engine speed n57 of the CO2-parent engine by more than ± 3 percent.\n1.9.\nMinimum number of points in the fuel consumption map\n1.9.1.\nAll engines within the same CO2-family shall have a minimum number of 54 mapping points of the fuel consumption map located below their respective engine full load curve determined in accordance with paragraph 4.3.1.\n2.\nChoice of the CO2-parent engine\nThe CO2-parent engine of the engine CO2-family shall be selected in accordance with the following criteria:\n2.1.\nHighest power rating of all engines within the engine CO2-family.",
