Appendix 1

The PEMS shall include the following measurement instruments:

1. (a)

   gas analysers to measure the concentrations of the gaseous pollutant emissions set out in the first paragraph of point 1 of Appendix 2;

2. (b)

   an Exhaust Flow Meter (EFM) based on the averaging Pitot or equivalent principle;

3. (c)

   sensors to measure the ambient temperature and pressure;

4. (d)

   other measurement instruments required for the in-service monitoring test;

PEMS shall also include:

1. (a)

   a transfer line to transport the extracted samples from the sampling probe to the gas analysers, including a sampling probe;

2. (b)

   a data logger to store the data collected from the ECU;

3. (c)

   PEMS may include a Global Positioning System (GPS).

Measurement Instruments shall meet the requirements on calibration and performance checks set out in Section 8.1 of Annex VI to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/654. Special attention shall be given to perform the following actions:

1. (a)

   the vacuum-side leak verification of the PEMS as set out in Section 8.1.8.7 of Annex VI to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/654;

2. (b)

   the response and updating-recording verification of the gas analyser as set out in Section 8.1.6 of Annex VI to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/654.

Measurement instruments shall meet the specifications set out in Section 9.4 of Annex VI to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/654.

The analytical gases used for calibrating the measurement instruments shall meet the requirements set out in Section 9.5.1 of Annex VI to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/654.

The transfer line shall meet the requirements set out in point 9.3.1.2 of Annex VI to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/654.

The sampling probe shall meet the requirements set out in point 9.3.1.1 of Annex VI to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/654.
