# Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/683 of 15 April 2020 implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/858 of the European Parliament and of the Council with regards to the administrative requirements for the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles, Division 2.4 Section 4:: (applicable to all approvals): A five-digit sequential number (with leading zeros as applicable) for a GB whole-vehicle type-approval, GB type-approval of vehicles produced in medium series, GB type-approval of vehicles produces in small series, a system, component or separate technical unit. The sequence shall start from 00001 for each Regulation that is indicated in section 2 for a type-approval of a system, component or separate technical unit, or in section 3 for a whole-vehicle type-approval.

Extent: E+W+S+N.I.

In the case of an ... individual vehicle approval, section 4 shall consist of 6 alphanumerical digits. The Secretary of State shall determine the detailed rules for the sequence of the numbers.
