# The Exempt Charities Order 2015, Note: Explanatory note


(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order declares University of St Mark and St John to be an exempt charity within the meaning of the Charities Act 2011 with effect from 12th February 2015. An exempt charity is not required to be registered with the Charity Commissioners and the Commissioners cannot exercise any powers under the Act in relation to an exempt charity except at the charity’s request.
