This Order brings into force the provisions of the Firearms (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 1997. Article 3 brings the provisions specified in Part I of the Schedule into force on 17th December 1997, subject to the savings indicated in paragraph (a) and (b) of that article. Article 4 brings the provisions specified in Part II of the Schedule into force on 1st February 1998. However those provisions do not have effect until 1st March 1998 in the case of certain certificate or permit holders and registered firearms dealers.
