# The Firearms (Museums) Order 1997, Introduction: Introductory text


ARMS AND AMMUNITION
Made 7th July 1997
Coming into force 28th July 1997
Whereas it appears to the Secretary of State that a museum or similar institution of the description specified below has as its purpose, or one of its purposes, the preservation for the public benefit of a collection of historical, artistic or scientific interest:
Now therefore in exercise of his powers under paragraph 5 (2) and (3) of the Schedule to the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988 the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:
