The new Scheme, which is set out in Schedule 1 to the Order, has effect from 6th April 2006 and replaces the Firefighters' Pension Scheme set out in Schedule 2 to the Firemen’s Pension Scheme Order 1992 (“the 1992 Scheme”). Power to give the new Scheme retrospective effect is conferred by section 34 of the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004.",
