# The Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) Order 1998

BETTING, GAMING AND LOTTERIES
Made 2nd April 1998
Laid before Parliament 17th April 1998
Coming into Force 11th May 1998
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 20(3), 20(8) and 51(4) of the Gaming Act 1968, hereby makes the following Order:

## 1 

This Order may be cited as the Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 11th May 1998.

## 2 

Section 20(3) of the Gaming Act 1968 (under which the maximum permitted aggregate amount of winnings in respect of games of bingo played in one week simultaneously on different club premises is £25,000) shall have effect with the substitution, for the reference to the sum specified in that subsection, of a reference to the sum of £30,000.

## 3 

Section 20(8) of the Gaming Act 1968 (under which the maximum amount by which weekly winnings on any particular bingo club premises may exceed the aggregate amount of the stakes hazarded is £5,000) shall have effect with the substitution, for the reference to the sum specified in that subsection, of a reference to the sum of £5,500.

## 4 

Articles 2 and 3 of the Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) Order 1995, and articles 2 and 3 of the Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) (Scotland) Order 1995 are hereby revoked.
