# The General Lighthouse Authorities (Beacons: Maritime Differential Correction Systems) Order 1997, Note: Explanatory note


(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order provides that all references to a beacon in Part VIII of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995 shall be construed as including equipment in the United Kingdom which form part of a differential correction system to be used in conjunction with satellite navigation signals for maritime navigation.
Such equipment would be subject to the superintendence and management of the General Lighthouse Authorities.
