# The Greater London Authority Elections (Amendment) Rules 2012, Introduction: Introductory text

Coming into force 1st March 2012
The Lord President of the Council makes the following Rules in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 36(2A) and (2B) of the Representation of the People Act 1983 and now vested in him.
The Lord President of the Council has consulted the Electoral Commission in accordance with section 7(1) and (2)(d) of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000.
