# The Greater London Authority Elections (Amendment) Rules 2016, Introduction: Introductory text

Coming into force 8th February 2016
The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster makes the following Rules in exercise of the powers conferred by section 36(2A) and (2B) of the Representation of the People Act 1983.
In accordance with section 7(1) and (2)(d) of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster has consulted the Electoral Commission before making these Rules.
