# The Immigration and Asylum Appeals (Procedure) (Amendment) Rules 2001, Introduction: Introductory text

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 58(2) and 166(3) of, and paragraphs 3 and 4 of Schedule 4 to, the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, after consultation with the Council on Tribunals in accordance with section 8 of the Tribunals and Inquiries Act 1992, makes the following Rules:
