These Regulations amend the Income Support (General) Regulations 1987 (S.I. 1987/1967) and the Jobseeker’s Allowance Regulations 1996 (S.I. 1996/207) so as to amend the definition of “self-employment route” to include assistance in pursuing self-employed earner’s employment whilst participating in the New Deal for Lone Parents. This brings the calculation of income of such participants within the scope of the special rules contained in Chapter IVA of Part V of the 1987 Regulations and in Chapter IVA of Part VIII of the 1996 Regulations.

These Regulations do not impose a charge on business.
