  "text": "(1) For the purposes of this Part—\n“appropriate judicial officer” means—\n(a). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .\n(b)a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) designated for the purposes of this Act by the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales after consulting the Lord Chancellor , or\n(c)the Sheriff of Lothian and Borders; and\n“competent court” means a court consisting of an appropriate judicial officer.\n(2) The Lord Chief Justice may nominate a judicial office holder (as defined in section 109(4) of the Constitutional Reform Act 2005) to exercise his functions under this section.",
