# The Ionising Radiation (Basic Safety Standards) (Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations 2018, Introduction: Introductory text

Laid before Parliament 17th April 2018
Coming into force 8th May 2018
The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 .
The Secretary of State is a Minister designated for the purposes of that section of that Act in relation to basic safety standards for health protection of the general public and workers against the dangers of ionising radiation .
