# The Leigh Education Action Zone Order 1998, Article 5: Constitution of education action zone


(1) The Forum may at any time appoint–
(a) either one or two additional members from persons who are members of the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan Council elected for Hindley, Hindley Green, Atherton, Hindsford, Hope Carr, Leigh Central, Leigh East or Bedford-Astley wards who are also members of the education committee of that Council;
(b) either one or two additional members from persons appearing to them to represent the National Union of Teachers, Secondary Heads Association, National Association of Schoolmasters/Union of Women Teachers, National Association of Head Teachers or Association of Teachers and Lecturers;
(c) either one or two additional members from persons appearing to them to represent the head teachers of secondary schools which are zone schools;
(d) either one or two additional members from persons appearing to them to represent the head teachers of primary schools which are zone schools;
(e) one additional member from persons appearing to them to represent Leigh based businesses;
(f) up to 4 additional members from persons appearing to them to represent parent governors (within the meaning of Schedule 9 to the School Standards and Framework Act 1998) of schools;
(g) either one or two additional members from persons appearing to them to represent voluntary organisations in the area served by the zone schools;
(h) either one or two additional members from persons appearing to them to represent community organisations in the area served by the zone schools; and
(i) up to 3 additional members appearing to them to be able to further the objects of the zone.
(2) Any member appointed under paragraph (1)(a) shall cease to hold office as a member of the Forum if he ceases to be a member of the education committee of Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council or ceases to be elected for any of the words mentioned in that paragraph.
