Explanatory note

These Regulations increase the maximum rate of attendance allowance payable to members of a local authority and also the maximum rate of financial loss allowance payable to members of a local authority and of other bodies for the performance of an approved duty and who are not entitled to attendance allowance (regulation 2). The Regulations also increase the maximum rates of special responsibility allowance which may be paid by a local authority under section 49A of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 and also the total amounts which a local authority may pay thereunder by way of such an allowance in any financial year (regulation 3).
