# The Local Authorities (Companies) Order 1995, Introduction: Introductory text


LOCAL GOVERNMENT, ENGLAND AND WALES
Made 21st March 1995
Laid before Parliament 23rd March 1995
Coming into force
For the purposes mentioned in article 1(2)(b) 1st July 1995
For the purposes of article 4 1st July 1995
For all other purposes 1st April 1995
The Secretary of State for the Environment as respects England, and the Secretary of State for Wales as respects Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by sections 39(5) to (7), 67(4), 70(1) and (5) and 71(1)(b) of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 and all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:
