Article 1

These Rules may be cited as the Local Elections (Principal Areas) (Amendment) Rules 2001.

These Rules shall come into force on 16th February 2001 except for the purposes of any election where the last day for the publication of the notice of election in respect of that election precedes that date.

Rule 5(3) of the Local Elections (Principal Areas) (Amendment) Rules 1998^f1 is hereby revoked.

These Rules do not extend to Scotland or Northern Ireland.
