  "heading": "Termination of membership on ceasing to be member of authority",
  "text": "(1) This section applies to a person (P) who is—\n(a) appointed to be a member of a democratic services committee of a local authority, or of a sub-committee of such a committee, and\n(b) is a member of the authority at the time of that appointment.\n(2) If P ceases to be a member of the authority, P also ceases to be a member of the democratic services committee or sub-committee.\n(3) But subsection (2) does not apply if P—\n(a) ceases to be a member of the authority by reason of retirement, and\n(b) is re-elected a member of the authority not later than the day of retirement.\n(4) Subsection (3) is subject to the standing orders of the authority or the democratic services committee or sub-committee.",
