# The Magistrates’ Courts (Amendment) Rules 2019, Article 1: Citation, commencement and interpretation


(1) These Rules may be cited as the Magistrates’ Courts (Amendment) Rules 2019 and come into force on 1st January 2020.
(2) In these Rules—
(a) “the 1981 Rules” means the Magistrates’ Courts Rules 1981; and
(b) a rule referred to by number alone means the rule so numbered in the 1981 Rules.
