Regulation 4 Amendments to the 1999 Regulations

For paragraph (2) of regulation 12 there shall be substituted the following paragraphs—

“(2)

Subject to paragraph (2A), the committee may, with the approval of the Lord Chancellor, renew the period of co-option of a co-opted member.

(2A)

A person may not serve as a co-opted member of the committee for periods totalling more than 3 years unless there are exceptional circumstances.

(2B)

Any period served as a co-opted member of the committee before 1st September 2001 shall not count towards the maximum period of service permitted by paragraph (2A).”
