# The Magistrates’ Courts (Violent Offender Orders) Rules 2009, Introduction: Introductory text

The Lord Chief Justice, with the concurrence of the Lord Chancellor, makes the following Rules in exercise of the powers conferred by section 144 of the Magistrates’ Courts Act 1980 and section 99(7) of the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008.
In accordance with section 144 of the Magistrates’ Courts Act 1980, the Lord Chief Justice has consulted with the rule committee appointed under that section.
