# The Merchant Shipping (Cargo Ship Construction) Regulations 1997, Regulation 52: Electrical equipment in hazardous areas and spaces Requirements for ships constructed on or after 1st September 1984

Electrical equipment shall not be installed in any hazardous area except in accordance with the requirements set out in Schedule 12 in Merchant Shipping Notice MSN 1671.
