# The Merchant Shipping (Cargo Ship Construction) Regulations 1997, Regulation 58: Penalties

Extent: E+W+S+N.I.

Any contravention of these Regulations shall be an offence on the part of both the owner and the master, punishable on summary conviction by a fine not exceeding the statutory maximum, or on conviction on indictment by imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years, or a fine, or both.
