# The Merchant Shipping (Crew Accommodation) Regulations 1997, Introduction: Introductory text

Laid before Parliament 20th June 1997
Coming into force 11th July 1997
The Secretary of State for Transport, after consulting with the organisations referred to in section 306(4) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995 and the persons referred to in section 86(4) of that Act, in exercise of powers conferred by sections 43, 85(1)(a), (3) and (5) to (7) and 86(1) of that Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
