After paragraph (2) of regulation 110 there shall be inserted the following paragraph—

“(2A)

Where a ship of Class I, II or IIA constructed on or after 1st January 1994 has a public space spanning three or more decks by means of permanent openings and containing combustibles (such as furniture) and enclosed spaces (such as shops, offices and restaurants)—

(a)

each level within the space shall have two means of escape; and

(b)

one of those means of escape shall give direct access to an enclosed vertical means of escape meeting the requirements of paragraph (2)(c) of this regulation for a readily accessible enclosed stairway.”.
