  "heading": "Requirements for passenger ships and cargo ships of 500 gross tonnage or more",
  "text": "(1) This regulation applies to—\n(a) passenger ships; and\n(b) cargo ships of 500 gross tonnage or more.\n(2) A ship to which this regulation applies must comply with each requirement of the following provisions in part 1-A of the Polar Code applicable to that ship—\n(a) in chapter 1 (general)—\n(i) paragraph 1.4 (performance standards); and\n(ii) paragraph 1.5 (operational assessment);\n(b) chapter 2 (Polar Water Operational Manual);\n(c) chapter 3 (ship structure);\n(d) chapter 4 (subdivision and stability);\n(e) chapter 5 (watertight and weathertight integrity);\n(f) chapter 6 (machinery installations);\n(g) chapter 7 (fire safety and fire protection);\n(h) chapter 8 (life-saving appliances and arrangements);\n(i) chapter 9 (safety of navigation);\n(j) chapter 10 (communication); and\n(k) chapter 11 (voyage planning).",
