# The Metropolitan Counties (Local Statutory Provisions) Order 1979, Note: Explanatory note


Section 262(9) of the Local Government Act 1972 provides that all local statutory provisions are to cease to have effect in metropolitan counties at the end of 1979. This order postpones the operation of this provision from the end of 1979 to 31st December 1980.
