  "text": "For by-law 26(1) of the By-Laws relating to Motor Hackney Carriages standing or plying for hire made by the Council of the County Borough of Belfast on 4th June 1951 there shall be substituted –\n“26 (1) The fares payable for the hire of a Motor Hackney Carriage within the prescribed limits shall be –\n(a) where not more than 4 passengers are carried –\n(1)\n(2)\n(3)\n(4)\n(5)\nItem\nFare Title\nDay/ Time\nCalculation of fare\nRate\n1.\nRate 1\nMon-Fri 06.00-20.00\nFor the first 1.5 miles (2414 metres) or part thereof, or for the first 10 minutes and 18.75 seconds (618.75 seconds) or part thereof.\nMinimum £2·60\nMaximum £2·60\nFor every subsequent 160 yards (146.3 metres) or part thereof, or 37.5 seconds or part thereof.\nMinimum £0·10\nMaximum £0·10\n2.\nRate 2\nMon-Fri 20.00-24.00 and Sat-Sun 06.00-24.00\nFor the first 1 mile (1609 metres) or part thereof, or 6 minutes 32 seconds (392 seconds) or part thereof.\nMinimum £2·60\nMaximum £2·60\nFor every subsequent 146.7 yards (134.14 metres) or part thereof, or 32.7 seconds or part thereof.\nMinimum £0·10\nMaximum £0·10\n3.\nRate 3\nAny Day 24.00-06.00\nFor the first 0.5 mile (804.6 metres) or part thereof, or 3 minutes 32 seconds (212 seconds) or part thereof.\nMinimum £2·60\nMaximum £2·60\nFor every subsequent 135.3 yards (123.72 metres) or part thereof, or 32.7 seconds or part thereof.\nMinimum £0·10\nMaximum £0·10\n4.\nRate 4\n20.00 Christmas Eve – 06.00 27 Dec\nFor the first 1.5 miles (2414 metres) or part thereof, or 10 minutes and 18.75 seconds (618.75 seconds) or part thereof.\nMinimum £5·20\nMaximum £5·20\nand 20.00 New Years Eve – 06.00 2 Jan\nFor every subsequent 160 yards (146.3 metres) or part thereof, or 37.5 seconds or part thereof.\nMinimum £0·20\nMaximum £0·20\n(b) for each minute or part of a minute during which the taxi is kept waiting by the hirer for the rates described in the Table in sub-paragraph (a) –\nRate 1\nminimum\n16p\nmaximum\n16p\nRate 2\nminimum\n18p\nmaximum\n18p\nRate 3\nminimum\n18p\nmaximum\n18p\nRate 4\nminimum\n32p\nmaximum\n32p\n(c) additional fare –\n(i) for each passenger exceeding 4 carried for the entire distance\nminimum\n40p\nmaximum\n40p\n(ii) for each piece of luggage carried on the outside of a taxi\nminimum\n20p\nmaximum\n20p\nIn assessing additional fares every child under the age of 6 years and/or one child over 6 years and under 12 years shall be disregarded. Two children between the ages of 6 years and 12 years shall be counted as one passenger.”.",
