"text": "(This note is not part of the Regulations)\nThese Regulations amend (with minor drafting alterations) regulation 24(2) of the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations 1987. They alter the conditions which a person suffering from epilepsy has to satisfy if he is to be granted a driving licence. The principal change is that the period during which he must have been free from attacks whilst awake is reduced from two years to one year. As a consequence the provisions as to persons with a history of sleep attacks are slightly affected. A person who last had a sleep attack between one and two years before the granting of the licence now falls within paragraph (a) of regulation 24(2) rather than paragraph (b).",
