Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations further amend the Motor Vehicles (Type Approval)Regulations 1980 so that—
the type approval requirements relating to anchorages for motorvehicle safety belts are, as an alternative to the existingrequirements, the requirements of Council Directive 76/115/EEC asamended by Council Directive 81/575/EEC and Commission Directives82/318/EEC and 90/629/EEC;
the type approval requirements relating to safety belts andrestraint systems of motor vehicles are, as an alternative to theexisting requirements, the requirements of Council Directive 77/541/EECas amended by Council Directive 81/576/EEC and Commission Directives82/319/EEC and 90/628/EEC; and
the type approval requirements relating to the field of vision ofmotor vehicle drivers are, as an alternative to the existingrequirements, the requirements of Council Directive 77/649/EEC asamended by Commission Directives 81/643/ EEC, 88/366/EEC and 90/630/EEC.
