# The Motor Vehicles (Type Approval) (Great Britain) (Amendment) Regulations 1990, Note: Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations further amend the Motor Vehicles (Type Approval) (Great Britain) Regulations 1984 by correcting a drafting error in previous amending Regulations.
The Motor Vehicles (Type Approval) (Great Britain) (Amendment) Regulations 1989 (S.I. 1989/1580) (amongst other things) substituted a new item 4C in Schedule 1 to the 1984 Regulations.
It was intended that the exhaust emission requirements set out in that item should not apply to vehicles with spark ignition engines and which have a gross weight of more than 3,500 kg until 1st October 1990. These Regulations give effect to that intention.
The entry relating to item 4C in the Table in the Explanatory Note to S.I. 1989/1580 should read:
“New so far as the requirement applies to vehicles with diesel engines and to vehicles with spark ignition engines and which have a gross weight of more than 3,500 kg”.
