# The Mutilations (Permitted Procedures) (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2008, Regulation 8: Schedule 5


(1) The amendments to Schedule 5 (sheep: requirements when carrying out certain permitted procedures) are as follows.
(2) After paragraph 1 (castration) insert—
“Embryo collection or transfer by a surgical method
1A An anaesthetic must be administered.”.
(3) After paragraph 2 (implantation of a subcutaneous contraceptive) insert—
“Laparoscopic insemination
2A The procedure may only be carried out as part of a breed improvement programme.
An anaesthetic must be administered.
Ovum transplantation, including ovum collection, by a surgical method
2B An anaesthetic must be administered.”.
