# National Assistance Act 1948, Section 33: Local Authorities for purposes of Part III.

(1) In this Part of this Act the expression “local authority” (except in “local authority in England”) means a council which is a local authority for the purposes of the Local Authority Social Services Act 1970 in ... Wales, and a council constituted under section 2 of the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994 in Scotland and “local authority in England” means a council which is a local authority for the purposes of the Local Authority Social Services Act 1970 in England.
