  "text": "Section 262(9) of the Local Government Act 1972 provides that all local statutory provisions to which that sub-section applies were to cease to have effect on specified dates, but allows the date to be postponed in relation to any local authority area, or any provision to be exempted from that subsection, by statutory order.\nThe specified date in relation to non-metropolitan counties was postponed to 31st December 1986 by the Non-metropolitan and Welsh Counties (Local Statutory Provisions) Order 1983 (S.I. 1983/619).\nThis order exempts from repeal the local statutory provisions listed in article 2, which relate to places in non-metropolitan counties. Those provisions will therefore continue in force after 31st December 1986.",
