# The Offender Management Act 2007 (Coronavirus) (Approved Premises) (Amendment) Regulations 2020, Note: Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations make consequential amendment to regulation 4 of the Offender Management Act 2007 (Approved Premises) Regulations 2014 (S.I. 2014/1198) (“the 2014 Regulations”), following the creation of a new coronavirus restricted temporary release provision by the Prison and Young Offender Institution (Coronavirus) (Amendment) Rules 2020 (S.I. 2020/400).
The instrument amends the definition of “licence” in regulation 4 of the 2014 Regulations to refer to the new coronavirus restricted temporary release provision, enabling those released under that provision to be housed in approved premises.
A full impact assessment will be produced for this instrument and published on the legislation.gov.uk website.
