# The Offshore Installations (Safety Zones) Order 2023, Introduction: Introductory text

Coming into force 8th August 2023
The Secretary of State makes this Order—
(a) in exercise of the powers conferred by section 22 of the Petroleum Act 1987; and
(b) for the purpose of giving effect to proposals submitted by the Health and Safety Executive under section 24(2A) of that Act.
