# The Passenger Car Fuel Consumption (Amendment) Order 1996, Introduction: Introductory text

Laid before Parliament 30th April 1996
Coming into force 1st June 1996
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 15(1), (2) and (6) and 17(2) of the Energy Act 1976, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and having maintained consultation with organisations representative of manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers of cars for the United Kingdom market in accordance with section 15(5) of that Act, hereby makes the following Order:—
