Explanatory note

This Order appoints 1st June 1978 as the day for the coming into operation of all of the provisions of the Patents Act 1977 other than—

(a) sections 77(6), (7) and (9) and 78(7) and (8) which came into operation upon enactment by virtue of section 132(5);

(b) sections 84, 85, 114 and 130 (which were brought into operation on 31st December 1977 by the Patents Act 1977 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1977, which also effected the repeal on that date of section 88 of the Patents Act 1949); and

(c) sections 53(1), 60(4) and 86 to 88 (which relate to Community patents).
