  "text": "(1) This Schedule applies where a competent harbour authority receives an application for authorisation, or has authorised a person, under section 3(1) of this Act to act as a pilot—\n(a) in inland waters only; or\n(b) in inland waters and other waters.\n(2) In this Schedule—\n“adaptation period” means a period during which the applicant acts as a pilot under the supervision of a pilot authorised by the competent harbour authority, with or without undertaking further education and training, with the aim of assessing his ability to act as a pilot in the United Kingdom;\n“aptitude test” means a test of the applicant’s professional knowledge conducted by the competent harbour authority with the aim of assessing his ability to act as a pilot in the United Kingdom; and\n“EEA State” has the meaning given by Schedule 1 to the Interpretation Act 1978",
