  "text": "(This note is not part of the Regulations)\nThese Regulations amend the Police Regulations 1987, with effect from 1st September 1989 (retrospection is authorised by section 33(4) of the Police Act 1964). Regulation 3(2) provides for the payment of overtime in specified circumstances where the beginning of an officer’s tour of duty is brought forward. Regulation 3(3) makes provision for a detective expenses allowance for officers of the rank of superintendent and precludes the separate reimbursement of small items of expenditure to all officers in receipt of such an allowance. Regulation 3(4) increases pay and regulation 3(5) increases the dog handler’s allowance.",
