  "long_title": "These Regulations amend the Police Authority Regulations 2008 (S.I. 2008/630) to provide for the automatic extension of the terms of office of independent members of police authorities pending the expected abolition of police authorities by the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Bill in May 2012. The term of office of any independent member whose term of office is due to expire before 10th May 2012 is extended until that date subject to provisions on disqualification, resignation and removal. However there is no such extension of a term of office if on the date these Regulations come into force the police authority has already completed arrangements to appoint another person to that office.",
