# The Police Authority (Amendment) Regulations 2012, Introduction: Introductory text

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Police Act 1996, makes the following Regulations.
In accordance with the provisions of paragraph 6 of Schedule 2 to the Act the Secretary of State has consulted with the Association of Police Authorities, persons whom she considered to represent the interests of county and district councils in England and county and county borough councils in Wales, and such other persons as she thought fit.
