  "text": "(This note is not part of the Regulations)\nThese Regulations amend the Police Federation Regulations 1969. Regulation 2(1) brings up to date references in regulation 19(4) of the 1969 Regulations to those driving offences in respect of which central funds of the Federation may be used in paying legal charges incurred by a member or former member of the Federation. Regulation 5(2) permits central funds of the Federation to be used, by or with the consent of the joint central committee, in paying legal charges incurred by a member or former member of the Federation in connection with criminal proceedings brought against him for causing death or injury to any person or for any assault. The joint central committee is empowered to impose terms and conditions on the use of funds for this purpose and its prior approval is required.\nThe Regulations come into force on 1st August 1987.",
