  "text": "If, before he has discharged his liability under the undertaking, a regular policeman retires with an award other than one of the amount of his aggregate pension contributions in respect of the relevant period of service, the police authority by whom the award is payable shall be empowered to deduct the balance of the sum then outstanding from payments on account of the award:\nProvided that where a payment is made on account of an ordinary or ill-health pension and in respect of a period beyond state pensionable age no deduction shall be made from so much of the payment as is on account of the secured portion of the pension.",
